Look at this thing....keep in mind.....this was a cast aluminum umbrella....it is so heavy that I cannot lift it.....the umbrella was not even up....it was in the down position, but the wind got underneath it and launched it and then bent and cracked the post.......pieces of the frame snapped and went flying......it reminded me of the movie Twist.er....when everything was flying around in the air.....luckily nothing flew through any of the windows in the back of the house! Looks like we will be shopping for a new umbrella......good thing we bought the super heavy furniture.....because that at least was unharmed.....it did move a little, but not much!
Nick and friends after the closing liturgy on his last day of school........everyone is all smiles today......did I mention we were up and raring to go at 5:30am......Nick never wakes up that early!

After school was dismissed, Nick and I spent some quality time together! My friend Judy and her son always do lunch with us on the last day of school....it has been a tradition since 1st grade....we hit Red Ro.bin for lunch and then did some shopping in one of our new outdoor malls.....one of my new favorite places to spend money! Nick is sporting a new Notre Dame Hat that he just had to have.....Pat and Pops will be so proud! We ended our excursion with Ice Cream!
Hopefully we will make it through tonight storm-free! Hurry up and come home Pat......we miss you!

Oh my gosh! That storm was scary stuff!
We are Notre Dame fans in this house! Doug's dad went to school there. Go Irish!
Wow, looks like it was a bad storm! Glad everyone is safe!
Enjoy your summer!
I can relate... the last Tropical Storm we had here was pretty scary and it was only the storm but I will get candles/flashlights out (and we have a crank radio - learnt my lesson from Hurricane Jeanne) just knowing they are there is good enough for me... glad everyone was ok and I don't blame you for going into the basement... take care
Wow! That storm sounds really scary. My poor dog would have probably died of a heart attack. I'm glad you and the kids are OK. The umbrella, not so much. But you can always buy a new umbrella.
Yay for the last day of school!! You guys will use any excuse to eat ice cream, huh? ;)
Oh my gosh what a scary storm! I tell you this weather lately is horrible! Let's hope it all ends soon!
I love Red Robin!!1 They have yummy turkey burgars : )
We are big Notre Dame Fans too!!! I have only been to one ND football game but my boys have been to a few games. They have friends that attend ND. One of the boys that my son played football with growing up played for ND (he graduated last year).
Hope tomorrow brings good weather for you.
Lisa,
That sounds horrific! We were out to dinner and sitting in the courtyard of the restaurant when all of a sudden I noticed how ominous the sky was behind us. We got a few lightening strikes and lost power for about 2 minutes, but nothing else. I think the worst of it was definitely up your way. That kind of stuff (although never something that bad!) always happens to me when Jim is out of town. Murphy's Law I guess!
I am glad you are safe..sorry about the umbrella!!
Glad that you are all safe! The weather has just been so nasty all over lately. Keeping fingers crossed for calm skies and no rain.
Janet
golly, that was a bad storm!
I like Nick's hat, my sis and dad went to ND!
Go Irish.
Oh my goodness! You poor thing! We have had the same stormy weather the last few nights and it always happens right at bedtime. I feel like we live in the basement anymore! Hope your hubby gets home soon!
