Since the weather did not cooperate with us, we didn't get to go to the pumpkin patch.......
Nick was very disappointed becuase he will be with his Dad the next two weekends and was very excited about going to pick out his own pumpkin. He kept asking me if I thought it would stop raining....there was no chance, it poured all day!
We decided to do the next best thing.....go out and buy some pumpkins at the local nursery.....
Both kids concentrating on their creations!
The kids had a blast decorating and carving. As you can see....Sarah has not quite mastered pumpkin carving....she is into pumpkin coloring...what imagination!
The festivities only lasted about 45 minutes, so we decided to make some pumpkin bread....we love all things pumpkin in this house....bread, pie, cake, coffee, and even pumpkin ice cream...actually, that is my favorite!!
We tried a new recipe.......it is called Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
We are hoping one of these weekends we will luck out and get some good weather so we can visit the pumpkin patch....but until then, we have a great jack-o-lantern sitting at our front door....compliments of Nick!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

Sorry to hear the weather didn't cooperate for you this weekend. However, you certainly made lemonade out of lemons. It looks like both kids had a great time! I especially love Sarah's colored pumpkin. I am sure we will have one of those too!
Enjoy your pumpkin bread this week. It looks delicious!
You are really getting the rain..
Sorry to hear about that..
But looks like you made the best out of it..
Love the pumpkins..
Have a Great Week..
These photos are great!! I love how they each added their own special touch to their pumpkins. And I love pumpkin bread, too. I add chocolate chips to mine. Mmmmm... yummy!!
Have a great week!!
So glad to see that Nick was able to do some pumpkin carving even though you had rainy weather! He did an awesome job! Sarah's pumpkin reminds me of Maddy's creations when she was younger!
Have a great week. Yum -- pumpkin bread!
Janet
BOO too bad it rained, but you got to dig into some sweet bread and slimy "pumpkin guts" (as we call them) a nice day after all:)
Looks like a fun weekend even with the rain. It has actually been really nice here. The mosquitos make it hard to go outside, but the temp. has been nice.
Have a great week!
Lisa,
too bad it rained.. YUCK!!! The pumpkins turned out nice!! So do tell was the bread good? I checked out the receipe....was it moist?? I love pumpkin bread!! I get the pumpkin muffins at the St. Louis Bread Company or ( Pannera in your area) and they are yummy!
Belinda
wow pumpkin carving already! Send some of that rain down to us - we need it badly.
I am sorry it rained, but it looks like you all had fun anyway! Boy, do we still need rain here in GA. It is dry!
Pumpkin coloring - I need to let Briana do that!
YEA...it is pumpkin carving time again.
Love the photos and will have to check out the pumpkin bread more closely :-)
Have a great week,

This is such a cute blog. Love the layout and such. Mmmm, pumpkin bread. Can I have a loaf?
Oh Lisa...the weather here was rainy too all weekend long (we too are so hoping to hit the pumpkin farm before "everything" happens...) Drop me a line when you get a chance!
Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread-sounds yummy! I like all things pumpkin, too, but I haven't tried the icecream yet. We haven't bought pumpkins yet. It's still so hot and humid here and I'm afraid the pumpkins won't hold up very well outside.
I can't believe it's already Monday :-(
Take care - best wishes,
Michaela
I love fall!! Even though you didn't get to go to the pumpkin patch it sounds like you had a great time creating pumpkins!!
I LOVE, LOVE fall and that pumpkin bread sure looks good. It sounds like the recipe is similar to a recipe I have been using for years. SO good!
Your family is adorable and so are the pumpkins!
Sorry to hear about the rain, but at least you got to carve some pumpkins! It looks like you guy's had fun too.
You have inspired me to start getting my Halloween stuff out, but first I'm going to click on your pumkin bread recipe! Yummy! Thanks for sharing! : )
Sorry about the weather. :(
You however did some pumpkins and the kids did a great job!
Thanks so much for sharing the recipe for the pumpkin bread, it sounds wonderful!!
Pumpkin ice cream?!? I will have to see if I can find any of that around here, it sounds interesting enough to try!
Great job on the pumpkins kids!
Sounds like fun! My boys used to love carving pumpkins.
If you're interested, I have a chocolate pumpkin muffin recipe on my blog...It's in the "In the Kitchen With Amy" link on my side bar. You may already have the recipe, but if not, you will more than likely love it.
Do your kids like to watch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?"
I still do.;)
God Bless,
Amy:)
Fabulous pics!!!!!! And now I want some o that bread...lol.
Looks like you had a wonderful cozy weekend, despite the yucky weather. I hope you will make it to the pumpkin patch in a few weeks.
Your bread looks yummy! The boys and I made some pumpkin bread today after school, we LOVE all things pumpkin here too. We just finished the new Ben & Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake icecream. MMMM it is sooo good :)
The weather was nasty this weekend. We missed out on our plans to go apple picking.
Well it looks like the kids had fun anyway. I think you did a good job of bringing the fun inside.
The pumpkin bread looks Yummy!
I love anything pumpkin too.
Jen
Yummy yummy pumpkin bread!! I am excited to try a new recipe so thank you Lisa! What a bummer that the weather didn't cooperate for you guys and the pumpkin patch. Looks like you salvaged the weekend anyway, though! Isn't it crazy that it is almost October?? I can't believe it. Hope your Monday was good! :)
Carrie
I ended up buying our pumpkins at our whole foods store. They are still pretty and nicely displayed on our front porch. Livi helped me set up the hay (I hate hay but it looks cute with the pumpkins). I love pumpkin too!!! I have a yummy pumpkin bread recipe but I have to find it...it may be Christmas by the time I find it LOL
Wow, It looks like you guys had a great weekend!
I love the colored pumpkin by Sarah. That is cute. Nick sure did a good job on his.
I read the story of Sarah. What a wondeful surprise.
Ooh, such a good mom. You did exactly the right thing. Your adorable Nick is at such a great age. I absolutely loved this age with my two precious boys.
And your little Sarah...well, we ALL know she's adorable. : )
So glad you had a good weekend after all.
M.L.
Hate it when the weather don't not cooperate. But it looks as if y'all turned it into an amazing weekend without mother nature help!!!
Sarah pumpkin is adorable as well as Nicks.
Thank you for the link~ Pumpkin bread sounds so YUMMY!!!
Have a blessed day my friend~
Krista
Fabulous pumpkins! And I am going to snitch the bread recipe, your loaf looks wonderful!
I tried Pumpkin Bread for the first time last year... oh that stuff is truly delicious... I am afraid if I made some it would be eaten by me in 6 seconds... alas I don't really make stuff cause hubby doesn't like to eat 'orange' things... it is no fun making stuff on your own!
paula deen & katie lee joel made a yummy scrumptuous looking pumpkin souffle pancake. i need to go find that on food network...you would love to add it to your list too
xo
Hey Lisa, a very good friend of mine from Chicago came to visit and brought us a pumpkin carving set!! I am so excited to use it. Any tips on how to carve a pumpkin for a complete novice?
Would love to take my kids to a pumkin patch to take photos...watch this space.
God Bless
Love Jules
