Officially In Training!!
October 14, 2008
We are officially in training....potty training that is....
I just wanted to thank everyone that gave us ADVICE a couple of weeks ago...you all had some terrific ideas and we will be using them. Quite a few of us are reaching this milestone at approximately the same time, so I will keep everyone updated as to what is working for Sarah and what is not...
I am trying to stay optimistic here....she is ready...I have been procrastinating.....it is a big commitment and we will need to stay close to home for the first few days....there has been so much going on that I just held off until the time was right. I have been watching my calendar for a good time to start and things are pretty quiet here for the next couple of days...so as they say....there is no time like the present.
As of tomorrow morning, we are going cold turkey....
The little potty is in place. Our special treat jar is filled with M&M's, the dresser drawer is piled high with the cutest little girl undies, and I am stocked with all neccessary cleaning supplies.....
Wish us luck......the diapers are coming off.... We hope :)

Lisa ~ You know that if you sing some ridiculous pee pee song (and so many of us do it, but most don't admit to it), then I want video. I need a laugh this week. ;) Best of luck!
Oh, I can't wait to hear how it goes! We are a few months behind you I think. Not quite ready but starting to be interested in it. I will be pumping you for good tips! (M&Ms would be a good start for me!)
Carrie
Sigh.....I so wish someone would be there to calp and give me M & M's everytime I use the potty....I seriously think it might evolve into world peace....
Of course that should say "clap"
typos....be gone!!
Way to go, Sarah! I hope you have a successful potty week! Enjoy the M&Ms!
Lisa, Good luck! I'm sure she'll do just great! Girls are so much easier! At least that's what they tell me! Can't wait to hear about her first day in big girl panties! Keep us all posted!
Have confidence. When their ready they literally train themselves!!!
Goodluck
We totally did the cold turkey thing. Worked well for us (luckily!)
Lisa,
Good Luck!! Tonggu Momma is right about the pee pee song. Just ask Kate, I sing a funny one. Copied it off some goofy parents from a Super Nanny episode.
Keep us posted!
Jen
Woo Hoo...go Miss Sarah!!! You have fans rooting for you in TN. I hope you get to feel like such a big, beautiful Princess wearing your pretty undies and eating your M & M's.
Good luck, mommy : )
Lisa,
I know it will go great! Both of my boys were just 3 and it went FAST & EASY, with the "cold turkey"! GOOD LUCK! I will be thinking of the two of you tommorow and the rest of the week:)
Jennifer
I don't think I left you advice and this worked SOOO well for us I HAVE to share. It actually came from a business guy in his late 50's who was teaching the power of positive thinking. Rather than say, "Don't wet your pants" Say, "Keep your pants dry." or ask, "Are you keeping your pants dry?"
Power of suggestion! When I ask Amelia even now if she needs to go potty she say, "No, I'm keeping me dry."
YEAH.
Sarah is a BIG GIRL..
She will do fine..
Have a great few days..
Hugs..
Can't wait to see some big girl panties!! {that sounded weird...}
Good luck girl! And Miss Sarah...Congrats on getting ready to start in the big girl club!!! :) When it's Caroline's turn I might have to try a diff reward...I'd eat all the M&M's myself!!! xo, Les
Good luck Sarah and Lisa! You can do it!
Janet
Wishing you the Best of Luck.
Oh. best of luck! Just remember bribery is a GOOD thing and keep the m&m jar full at all times. lol!
Do you ahve the "Once Upon A Potty" video.....dumbest thing I have ever seen....but Sophia and Daniel love it! lol
Good luck....we did M&M's too! ;) I can't imagine PT-ing a boy....I am totally freaked out at the thought! ;)
Keep us posted! ;)
All the comments made me laugh this morning, thanks! How many Jennifer's are following your blog now!
I'm in that phase now with Maddie still and I do have that Once Upon a Potty video from Caitie's time and I'm still singing...Now I'm going to my potty potty...
Actually if you go on the Huggies website, Pull ups is offering a free potty training DVD, we got our last week. Good luck!
That is it my friend! You can't go back now!! Wishing you the best!!!!
M&M's worked for us!!! Also, going to the store and picking out her favorite underwear...okay...and a toy!

Good luck! I had to train 4 boys and they are much harder! Maggie came trained so I was lucky there~
Good luck! We are getting close to starting with our littlest one too. Hope all goes well!
Good luck to you! Briana hates the potty right now. Literally keeps saying ouch when she is sitting on it. Sigh. I think we need a boot camp soon too.
Oh, good luck (to both of you)! You will both do well; I am sure of it.:)
And just remember...if there are any frustrating days...She won't go to college in a pull-up.;)
God Bless,
Amy:)
Good luck, I just know you both will do great! I can't wait to hear how it goes.
Girlfriend and Miss Sarah~ much luck today. Can't wait to hear the updates! And if Tonggu Momma is correct, (and I believe she is) then I too would enjoy that video!
Hugs,
Krista
Good luck!! I have to say, I'm glad it's you and not me!!
Hope that the day is going well and she is doing what she should :D I this turkey sandwiches are in order for lunch today!
Ladybug hugs,
;D
good luck with your cutiepie!!
Best of luck.
Potty training is the one thing I just don't care for as a Mom. Lucky for me, my girls learned it very quickly with M&Ms. :) Like mommy they love the chocloate! It just the baby hands in the never-can-be-clean-enough-bathroom.
Your daughter is beautiful!
Oh happy day!
Looking forward to some great stories!
Sarah is a big girl now! M&M's for her and a glass of wine for you - to celebrate the potty success.
Hugs,
Michaela
Good Luck!! If she's ready it shouldn't be too bad for you mom!!
So proud of you big girl, it'll be a breeze!
We used M&M's too, they worked like a charm, wink...
what fun! good luck :)
Look forward to reading about how it goes! It has been a while since I potty-trained our 3 boys....... :-)
I think we used sweet tarts!
OK, surely we DIDN'T use sweet tarts for 2 year olds! After I sent that comment through my brain reflected on that for a sec.
It has been too long. :-)
