Not What I Had Hoped For......

November 16, 2008

First thing this morning, it looked as though it was going to be a nice day. The rain cleared and the sun was out....but so was the wind!! Yesterday we had temperatures in the high 60's.....today it was in the low 40's and the wind gusts were unbelievable.....not your ideal day for outdoor photos.

We headed out anyway.....I had mutiple places at this location that I wanted to try, but we didn't make it past the first one.....it was just freezing! The kids noses were turning red and their eyes were tearing. Under normal circumstances, it is hard to get Sarah to cooperate, but today was the absolute WORST....even the big bag of skittles in my camera bag didn't do the trick!!!!

These were the best shots......and they are NOT good or usable for a Christmas card. At the rate we are going....my Christmas cards might turn into Happy New Year's cards!

Sarah decided she didn't want Nick near her she wanted to sit by herself.....this is when I knew we were done for the day!

Needless to say, these pictures are not what I had hoped for. This was my PLAN B.....looks like I am going to need a PLAN C! If I can't get anything between now and Thanksgiving.....my last resort will be on our trip to Cape Cod....maybe we can pull off a winter beach shot......I HOPE!!!

On a side note, I am thinking about changing Nick's sweater from Red to Black......It could have been the red door that was throwing it off, but I think he looks better in the black....oh well....next time!!

I am signing off.....I leave first thing tomorrow for Memphis.....I will be checking in and I do have a post or two scheduled in my absense!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Well...these are pretty darn good for the out takes!!! Freakish weather this weekend for sure...and I imagine it was even colder where you are!! Lia played outside for about an hour...and then she started YELLING at the wind to stop...so I knew it was time to come in... :-)

Have a safe trip....we'll catch you on the flip side...

I'm with Kate, I really think these are quite good! I particularly like the second one. You know how I said I was doing a themed pic this year...nope, like you, ours didn't turn out as planned, so I went to plan B.

Have a safe flight and look forward to chatting!

I love some of those! It did look pretty windy though.

I think a winter beach picture on Cape Cod would be awesome.

Hey, send me your addy and I'll make a name bracelet for Sarah. I ran out of supplies and had to order more, so you probably won't get it until the week of Thanksgiving. Have a safe trip!

Even though the weather didn't cooperate, I think these pictures are just adorable. I especially love the second picture, which I don't think could be any cuter!

Have a safe trip tomorrow! I am looking forward to our chat while you are on the road!

That Sarah is so darn cute. I think the pictures turned out very cute. Shows their personalities.

We tried Christmas photos today, and it was a horrible. It's put me in such a bad mood all day. I have to say, I just don't like it when things and children, don't go my way. Can't wait to see what Plan C brings.....so sorry.

I really loved your previous post about this subject because it's so real. I too am trying to get a good shot and it seems impossible!
I loved their outfits and thought they both looked really sweet. :)
I hope you have a good trip.

Hey there...what are you talking about? I like the first 3 and especially the 2nd one. I think you're being too hard on yourself.

I think they're good anyhow. Love Sarah's outfit, too cute! I was thinking how fun it would have been for us to take our xmas pic on the beach but of course the thought only occured to me on the plane ride there, oh well...

I need to get moving on my cards too, gotta make an appt for the studio ASAP! Have a good trip!

The first 3 are GORGEOUS! I would understand if you want the kid's faces showing in the shots, but OMG they are SOOOOO cute. I'm thinking you need to do a 3 photo card. Use one of them from this post and pick one of your favorite of each of them from the year - you're done! Just my opinion.
Your kids are so beautiful you could put them in feed sacks and it would be cute!

Shari said...

OK I didn't mean PUT them in feed sacks I meant DRESS them in feed sacks.
Have a safe trip - hopefully it's warmer in Memphis!

That stinks! Honestly though, I love the ones of the two of them. I like the red sweater on Nick, but see your point. Sarah's outfit is adorable! I will cross my fingers for you with your Plan C.

Praying you have a safe trip. You will not be that far from me :) Have a great week!

I know how frustrating taking pics can be...but I really think that you could use one of those first 2....they are adorable.

Have a great trip~

Don't you just hate it when the weather doesn't work with you!? We drove an hour and a half recently to take our pics and it ended up raining all day!

That being said, these pics are adorable. Love the one of them laughing and looking at each other while that wind zips through Sarah's hair! I know that they aren't what you had hoped but they are pretty stinkin' cute!
Have a blast in Memphis!

Oh Lisa...I was so "wondering" how your photo-shoot went this weekend because our weather here was terrible! I know I said this before, but we also had to do several photo shoots before coming up with some nice photos (it was either, Francesca was making a funny face, Annabelle wasn't looking or Honey Bear was not in the mood). I know that next year...I am going to set up a professional ;) to come & take some photos!

For what it is worth, I think the photos look great, but if you are not happy, I so know what that means...Maybe you will get some while at the Cape or do as we did...I actually took ours in and around our house over a three day period.

Hope you have a safe trip and can't wait until you return home!

I LOVE the first picture. Love it - their smiles are so genuine! I'd like to know how you get Nick to cooperate!! And when the "shows over" it looks like Sarah is the one who threw in the towel!! You would definitely think it would be the pre teen boy!!He looks so handsome in red!

Whether or not you think they are good or not, I think these pictures are great!

You could always do individual shots and then make a collage. That is what I had to do last year when things didn't work out like I planned ;-)

Here is a link to our card from last year:

Lisa,

I LOVE the 2nd and 3rd photos. I think they would be great for Christmas pictures, plus they look really natural. I wish I could get my kids to look this happy and relaxed during pictures.

don't you love when you are trying to get a sweet, loving looking pic of the kids for the X-mas card and they are fighting and you are yelling, "SMILE AND LOOK LIKE YOU LOVE EACH OTHER!!!"

such wonderful memories.....

I think your "rejects" are pretty good!!! Don't look for perfection. Everyone will just enjoy seeing the kids and their personalities. I think all of your pictures are good. (And I'm glad you didn't persevere any longer in the freezing temps!)

Did you see on Mamarazzi that they have instructions for joining in? I was wondering if I'd see you on there now.

Enjoy Memphis. We moved from PA to GA nearly 2 yrs ago and enjoy the weather down here SOOO much more.

I think the second one is absolutely darling.....they both looked adorable....

Have a great trip to Memphis! I think these photos turned out great, but I understand how we are always looking for that "perfect" shot. We tried this weekend to get our photo, too, and had no better luck. Maybe this weekend will be better....for both of us!

I actually LOVE the second one:) I know how frustrating this can be.
I have found that I need to not expect anything at all on these photo shoots. Sometimes I get one that is not what i had envisioned at all but it prefect in its own way. I ordered my cards today and while the photo is imperfect it is just right;)

I'll e-mail it to you (or send one if I can have your address).
Have a great trip!!!

I think the pictures are adorable! I, like you try to plan the perfect picture - but it never works and I either go with plan B, C.... Oh well perhaps your picture at the beach will turn out - either way I am sure you will have a great family photo of your adorable family. Hope you are having a good trip - I will be down there this week as well:)

It really is unusually cold. Last year it was hot. Go figure!

I think they look adorable! I'm a picky Christmas photo mom, too! I usually have 3 sometimes 4 different "sessions" before I get the perfect shot. In a year when you look back you won't even remember why the others weren't perfect. Her outfit really is adorable!
Good luck with the next one!

Well, I love the photos! Maybe it was a little windy, but it's REAL! And you can see how much those two adore each other!
