Your Toys or Mine?

Sarah and Rudy are in cahoots most of the time and always have a trick or two up their sleeves. They obviously love each other and spend a lot of time together but let's just say that it is not always sunshine and roses between them.

A bond was quickly formed when Sarah started eating real food. Before she came along, Rudy was never given any table food. Now he quickly runs to be by her side when he sees a snack dish in her hand....he also conveniently parks himself at her feet during dinner! She is always more than happy to share her food with her partner in crime.....Even if it means letting him up on the couch when no one is looking!!
IMG_6114
Food is one thing that she will happily share with her furry little friend......but there is some real turmoil brewing between these two lately.

Most two year olds are learning to share their toys with other children....it is a tough age where you frequently here shouts of "MINE"........unfortunately, Rudy is not helping us with this situation.

Rudy has decided that all of Sarah's toys are up for the taking! He has been confiscating toys left and right...especially those that have small pieces....like Little People sets. I cannot tell you how many Little People we have lost because of Rudy. He snags them and runs under the dining room table and chews them until there is nothing left but some mangled plastic!! At first it was kind of funny, but now poor Sarah has Little People villages with no people to go in them, and missing pieces to her puzzles, bulding blocks that have been destroyed, and the list goes on and on. Now I find myself not buying her toys with small pieces because I know what is going to happen to them.

Recently, Rudy has graduated from Little People and small items to something much bigger.....

Meet our latest victim.....Sarah's first beloved Baby doll!
She was pretty upset when she saw her disfigured baby. The shrills could be heard for miles I am sure....."This is not your toy.......it is MINE"
IMG_6122
He went right for those little fingers.....good thing we caught him when we did....she might have been missing an entire arm!!

IMG_6128
After the situation was under control and the water works came to a stop, Sarah gave Rudy a firm lecture filling him in on the new rules for borrowing her toys, followed by his punishment.....no more dropped food on the floor during dinner and no shared snacks on the couch when Mommy isn't looking for an entire week!!

IMG_6126
He seemed to take his punishment pretty well. I think this face says I am sorry....don't you!!

Just in case you were wondering.....we have a basket of toys just for Rudy....bones, chewies, stuffed animals, ropes, the works. It doesn't matter, he still goes after Sarah's!

One day he will learn his lesson.....I hope soon....we just bought Sarah an adorable pink kitchen for Christmas and you can imagine all the small pieces that will go with it....pots, pans, dishes, utencils, and fake food.......I can see the toy battles between these two already!!

Your Thanksgiving story is funny too. I have a few of the Barefoot Contessa books...do you know there is a cooking club...barefoot bloggers...

That Rudy is going to be one sad pup if he doesn't leave poor Sarah's goods alone! That is one cute pup for sure and certainly does look remorseful.

I love the relationships between kids and their animals!

Have a great week!

Oh, poor Miss Sarah. I bet she was really miffed with her partner in crime, Rudy, when she discovered his latest victim. Uh oh!
Ah, the stories you'll have for us about these two as they both get older!
It's like they're siblings!!!
Hugs hun~ Les

That is totally funny. Our dogs fell in love with mia as soon as she began to eat people food. They have not left her side since and tolerate all kinds of abuse from her just for the sake of food. I love the story of the doll-- our max has done the same thing to many many toys. Oh well, the price we pay for having fur babies!!

How old is Rudy??? I guess we are VERY fortunate that Kiwi has NEVER chewed anything not hers.

From the start we gave her, things that were hers alone and encouraged her to mangle them.

I sooo feel for you and particularly Sarah!!!

Rudy is awfully cute in his red sweater, it would be hard for me to be angry with him when he's naughty. I also remember going through this when we got Grace at age 12mos. Our dog Molly chewed up many Little People. As I recall she eventually stopped. Hopefully things will work out on their own.

Poor baby doll. How funny that she gave him a lecture. I'm not sure he looks very sorry, but he does look very cute, so I'm betting he won't be in the doghouse with Sarah for long.

Thank you for the nice post about Lucy too!

Oh my! When Amelia came home I already had 2 princesses. They left her toys alone, but LOVED to share her food. She never got to finish and ice cream cone;)
I refer you to this post to see how far our sibling rivalry went. http://mostlyamelia.blogspot.com/ 2005/08/sibling-rivalry.html

Rudy is just RUDE to chew Sarah's beautiful baby.

Okay, Lisa....I could have written this post, substituting Daisy our Golden Retriever...who is not even a year yet. EVERY toy that the girls have, has teeth marks in it and I can't tell you how many I have had to throw away!!

LOL....poor baby! Too Cute! That Sarah is a CUTIE PIE!

As always...I love you pictures!

Oh Lisa, this is toooooo funny and familiar. OUr dog sits under the highchair and Kira now thinks it's her duty to share her food with him.
I say to myself, well since he was the king and now Kira runs the palace, well, what's a few cookies, eggs, spaghetti, etc every now and then!
So far he has no interest in his toys...just food!

Sorry for the doll, yikes.

funny post.

Our four-legged children are just so sneeky lol! We are having the same problem with our Honey Bear (our yellow lab) here, but you just gotta love it...don't ya!

BTW...Love the photos from your weekend home! The gardens looked so beautiful! And I am sure your Thanksgiving was 100% wonderful!

I love the lecture on the stool ~ can she come to my classroom and give a few pointers on sharing and getting along? : )

Currently our bulldog Bozely has a true fondess for socks ~ so much for blaming the dryer!

Have a great day,
Jo

Poor Rudy! He just can't help himself. Maybe you should bring him over to Crazyville to play with my Allie, so Sarah can cook in her new kitchen without worrying about Rudy chewing up her new pots and pans.;)

Bless Sarah's heart. She is a good sport about it too. (Rudy being so cute probably helps.) Maybe for Christmas you should buy Rudy his own set of dishes.;)

Have a lovely day, Lisa!
God Bless,
Amy:)

I did that to one of my sister's dolls when I was little, does that make me a dog?!! LOL

They do love those table scraps though, when we still had our Hunter, this was a major problem at meal times too.

Too cute post!

Rudy looks far to innocent for all of this :)! Very funny post! And your Sarah is beautiful, as always!

Poor Baby Doll! Poor Sarah!! Poor Rudy ~ no secret snacks for a WHOLE week! ;o) That's too cute! Rudy sounds just like our dogs. They have a basket FULL of 'dog' toys, but they never want those. They prefer little kid toys. Go figure!

Sorry you didn't get up to Cape Cod. Sounds like you pulled off an amazing dinner. You're an inspiration, I'm not good at last minute like that. :)

Too funny, well, um, maybe not for the doll!

Love the photos below of your children...especially the shot taken from behind as they are walking away. Precious.

Oh, I'm so sorry! Sweet girl, she's trying to be nice! We have two inside dogs (min. schnauzers). What works for us is a squirt bottle with water. They HATE this and it has been the best training tool for them.

Aside from all that...love these pics! Too cute!

Happy Tuesday!

Poor baby doll :(

Here's something even more sad....

My favorite animal growing up was so loved by me that I even (gulp) bit off some of his toes myself! (shhhh! don't tell anyone it was me...lets say the dog did it!)

I am so scared for these battles when our Jenny comes home. Right now I loose shoes, candles, pillows, wii remotes and what ever else isn't locked up! And poor Rudy has the same look I get when I try to school the girls for their badness, it's so hard with those eyes!!

Lisa-

I just had to write to say I had the opportunity to read your story of becoming a family. Truely amazing. You are a very strong woman.

I could relate to so many of your emotions with being diagnosed with cancer. It is paralyzing... those initial days / weeks/ months of walking through that experience. And even now I still get scared. Fear is sometimes difficult to let go...

I know Em would not be here without cancer... One day she and I will discuss how we both battled the unthinkable to come together as a family. The perfect gift.

Thank you for sharing your story. I look forward to following your blog and waiting for your new little one!! Casey

Oh poor baby doll...I'm glad she was rescued before the whole arm went! Well, it seems that Miss Sarah has now set Rudy straight and hopefully that won't happen again. :)

Rudy, Rudy, Rudy! Maybe Santa should bring him his own doll :-)
Our dogs used to snatch toys, too, but only when we weren't home. It took us a while to figure out what was going on, because there was hardly any "evidence" left with 2 Rotties chomping down...Jarod used to say "Dadhee, Ris -Aries- bad boy, spank butt".
Has Sarah forgiven Rudy already?
Hugs,
Michaela

Every little People person my daughter has is missing their hands/arms! Anything wooden has teeth marks in it. The new drum with wooden drum sticks??? Bye bye drum sticks. And this is all from a 9 lb Shih Tzu.

That just means that Rudy has good taste. Too bad the doll didn't taste good. That's probably why she still has her arm.

What a cute blog. I hope Rudy has learned his lesson. I think Sarah let him know who's in charge lol.
