Since Easter is quickly approaching, the topic of our after dinner conversation the other night turned to Lent and what everyone was going to give up this year. Nick actually started this discussion and was the first one to say that he was going to give up chocolate and all sweets. He then asked me what I was giving up and I said, "Sweets, Diet Soda, and I might even go as far as giving up wine too".
With that, Sarah, in her most serious voice, chimed in with her "sacrifice"......
She declared that she would be giving up green beans and peas. We all broke out in laughter because these are two veggies that she cannot stand and will not touch if they are on her plate.
Obviously, we have a little work to do with her on the understanding of Lent and what it means to sacrifice. She is probably a little young to actually give up something, but it is never too early to teach them why we give up our favorite things and skip the meat on Fridays this time of year.
Has anyone else decided what they will be giving up for Lent?

Maddy and I were just talking about this last night and trying to decide what to give up. Still thinking on that and we're going to try and do something good every day.
Have a great weekend!

LOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE Sarah's "Love Them Home" tee!! Amie will love this!
Green beans and peas - she is such a funny girl!! After Mia had dessert yesterday, she asked if she could have more green beans. (AFTER dessert - BLEH!) I asked her if she liked the dessert or the green beans better and she said green beans. lol! That is soooo not me!! Like Sarah, though, she can do without the peas. ;)
I hope you have a great weekend!
xoxo,
Michelle
Lisa - that is beyond PRECIOUS!
I'm sure that is what our youngest would give up too - well actually all veggies if she could.
HA HA HA!
Love the photos of Sarah - she is so beautiful!
Love you friend - have a great weekend!

Whoa, wine? Really?!?! ;)
Lol @ Sarah, that is just too cute. Love these shots of her, that tee shirt rocks!
Happy weekend!!!
Oh my goodness, cracking up at that girl... she's something else :)
And I LOVE that shirt on her, beautiful!! So grateful for your generous heart, Lisa - and that you're supporting Amie in bringing her babies home :)
Briana would most definitely give up green beans and peas too! LOL!
HA! I love it! I can totally get on board with that one- Absolutely something my youngest would say. Love the wittiness
love the innocence in her answer!
I'm with you Sarah! I'll give up green beans and peas too! I don't think I could do the wine though! :) Have a great weekend, tara
I think it would be lima beans. Hated them since I was 7!
How hilarious!
We don't really celebrate lent, but if I were to really sacrifice I would give up diet soda. That would be a tough one!
Too funny! So cute!
We are starting to think about our Lent plans as well...not sure yet, but I feel that I am being called to give up "computer time".
Well, at least you know she's smart! And Squirt will be giving up all peas for Lent (and probably for life). We think she might be intolerant to all legumes, and that the hypoglycemia is a reaction to legumes, and of course the hypoglycemia is probably what caused/ causes the seizures.
That is so funny, I just try the same thing when I was growing up.
Hee hee, so funny! Giving up green beans and peas...good idea:)
Awwwwwww...Sarah is soooo sweet, I just love her sweet, sweet smile:) Reg's is so blessed to have such an awesome "big sister".
I saw this shirt on another blog and I was thinking about ordering this shirt for the girls too. Seeing how adorable Sarah is in it definately has "twisted my arm" to get it for them.
I love the reflection of Sarah's shirt in the window. Hmmmmmm, how did you do that? Looks like another topic for possible upcoming classes??? Hint, Hint LOL:)
Have a wonderful weekend!
God Bless,
Diane
Hmmmm Can I copy Sarah and give up something I hate?
Ironing maybe???!!!
my best friend always sticks to her lent sacrifices even after lent is over. i think that's pretty awesome.
loved your story-kids are too cute
My husband and I just decided that we would give up TV and the computer at home. Of course he has a tv at work and we both have computers at work too. I think it will be interesting to see what happens. I'm an internet junkie and he is addicted to all sports. Can't do diet soda yet. Just don't take my one love away ;) Maybe next year.
Oh my word! That is hilarious! Sounds like something Kamree would say. She hates veggies.
Cute pictures!
I usually give up Diet Dew.
UMMMMM, I should give up coffee! Now you have me thinking.
Have a great day Lisa!
